Not a light bulb moment

Unfortunately, when I went replace the low energy bulb, I discovered that I only had regular bulbs of 100w. Not so bad really - it would do for the moment, right? Wrong! My Ikea light shade normally sits on the top of the low energy bulb, which is plastic and stays cool.

I failed to register this fact until the bulb had melted the shade enough for it to fall off. It left me with a rather iced-looking, now useless but still working, regular bulb. Oh, and a melted shade.
