Flower Friday : : Daffodils

While we enjoy beautiful warm weather and blue skies, many parts of the country are suffering through terrible snowstorms. Dana and Jim left beautiful Sonoma County this morning and finally got a flight (the first one was cancelled) for a long weekend in Chicago. They used to live there and got married there, so they will have a good time even in blizzard conditions.

OilMan planted a whole raised bed full of daffodils for me to put in the house, but as I walked up to pick some, I liked this view of them with their heads all turned toward the sun. I liked the one orange on the tree behind them, echoing their color.

The orange tree is planted next to the deer fencing that runs between our garden and upper arbor and the empty field which we bought when we moved here because, although it doesn't 'perc' the county is now allowing engineered septic systems for two bedrooms. It is amazing how big a house can be  and still have only two bedrooms. As long as rooms don't have a closet or a door, they are not considered bedrooms. The house across the road is has an office, a media room, two ensuite master bedrooms, a huge great room/kitchen/dining room and is over 3.000 square feet. It is a nice house, but we thought it would be prudent to make sure that we would never have a house like that uphill from us.

After two or three trips to the irrigation store, which I think he secretly loves to visit, OilMan has assembled all the materials he feels are necessary to bypass the leaking system in our back patio with a new one. He has also dug trenches and holes everywhere in order to map out both the old system and the new one which he and Dana put in a couple of years ago. I seems to me he has done the most difficult part of the job, but Luis is going to come on Monday to assemble everything....
