It was all going so well!

Packed this morning ready for mid afternoon flight to Southampton. Justified flying because it takes forever on the train AND you have to cross London with luggage, etc., etc. Arrived at airport in perfect time, dropped off bag, survived security check, even had a drink before the flight.

This image is of my fellow passengers beginning to board our plane. I stopped to capture the moment. It's through double/triple glazing hence the odd effects. Waited for take off. Then the captain came into the cabin to make an announcement - must be important............... Southampton airport was closed because a plane had slipped off the runway onto the grass and they could not get it back!!

We had to disembark, wait for transit passes and return to departure lounge. It was a bit of a shambles because they did not open the door to the lounge and we all ended up in the arrivals hall which caused a security alert. Hilarious.

After 90 mins we did it all again and had a bumpy ride to the south with a bumpy landing. One wag kept shouting "we're going to die" and a baby screamed throughout the descent.

It's lovely to be ensconced with old friends in a house I know well. Lots of chat and catching up to do.
