B52 Bomber Wreckage

On December 27th 1972, Battalion No 72 - Air Defence missile Regiment No 285 shot down an American B52 that was violating Ha Noi air space. Part of the wreckage fell into Huu Tiep Lake in the Ba Dinh District.

This feat of arm contributed to defeating the US Imperialists strategic air raid on Ha Noi at the end of December 1972 and created an important change that led to the anti - US resistance and eventual victory of the Vietnamese people.

There are bits of plane and war remnants scattered throughout Hanoi and the whole of Vietnam - mostly they have been left in the place they fell with commemorative plaques erected to tell the war story bit by bit.
