We joined a tour to the rural area of Cochin, around the backwaters of Kerala, which is very beautiful.

We were driven to the inlet, where we boarded a boat - no seating, just plastic garden chairs placed on board, though they did have white covers normally used for weddings so we were honoured. We were also given these raffia coolie-type hats. Rather fetching, don’t you think?

It was a lovely day, watching the people of the island doing their daily tasks, and an exhilarating return journey in the infamous tuk tuks!
