Its been raining just a bit....

The weather has gone crazy. Large parts of the North Island and the top half of the South Island have been inundated with torrential rain, and Christchurch was exactly dry yesterday either.
This was the view early this afternoon as we flew past Nelson (just above the engine), and the silt and dirty river water can clearly be seen washing out into Tasman Bay.

Our flight was delayed as airline schedules are still apparently not back to normal after yesterday's many cancellations. On arrival at AKL it was chaos, obviously many  more delayed flights and people everywhere, just waiting.

And as I write this cyclone Gita is about to slam into Tonga as a category 5 event.
