#100days - 49: "Everyday I Write The Book..."

Work continues on my PhD novel. Set in late Renaissance Florence, it's told over five acts and 10 days with each days about 10,000 words in length. Today I finished my first draft of day 4 in the story, which equates to the end of Act Two and roughly 40,000 words thus far.

To celebrate I hiked through the snow to collect a parcel from the local sorting office. Inside was this Elvis Costello album which appropriately enough the song Everyday I Write The Book. Here are some of the lyrics:

"Even in a perfect world, where everyone is equal
I'd still own the film rights and be working on the sequel..."

Elvis Costello: he can be a wag, when he wants.
