Mobikes

Rows of these orange bikes have appeared in the area recently, and as the people of Brentford have worked out the system the bikes have become distributed around the district. They are an app-based system, whereby you can book and pay, then unlock a bike and cycle to your destination and leave the bike. They are free standing but I believe the company knows where each one is at any time. I will try it eventually (with my helmet).
