Balsa Manteña

It's Colombus Day/Día de la Raza. So for the 21st year running the town of Salango hosts a festival celebrating pre-colonial history here on the coast - including an election of the prettiest manteña (indigenous group of this coastal region) girls and boys.

In the background you may notice lots of balloons and stuff - those are part of the display for the culmination of the month-long craft workshop that the Polar offered for 120 local women.
