Garden in the sky

As a final holiday fling we shot across to New Lanark. I wanted to see the newish roof garden, and the boys were keen to see The Falls of Clyde after all this rain.
As you can see the garden is beautiful. The photo is taken from a raised viewing platform which aslo gives great views across to the surrounding countryside and the other mill buildings. It is the largest roof garden in Scotland.
having this garden in New Lanark fits very well with Robert Owen's philosophy of the importance of the simple pleasures and beauty of nature, the environment and natural history in general.
From a professional point of view I always like to peek in at the school and the nursery. The nursery being the first in Britain, where children were encouraged to have a healthy childhood, and were provided with healthcare, good food and an innovative education.
