Tiny Ptarmigan

What a lucky moment! Some people were looking through binoculars up towards a small cliff above Oberried. They told me they were looking at snow cocks. What amazing camouflage! Thank goodness I had taken the long lens with me, there were 2 ptarmigan which are becoming more and more rare in the Alps. If you look carefully at the extra you can see where they spend time under an overhang (dirty snow below!). The snow looks rather blue here to make the bird stand out, apologies for that.
