Oh...
What a day!
As we were leaving for our day of exploring, we asked the hotel if they could look at our thermostat as we couldn’t get the room temperature down. They explained that as it’s winter it’s all set throughout the hotel and the air con isn’t used during these months. However, they could move us to another room... in a different building up the road. Don’t think Mr C was too fussed but as I had hardly slept all night, I said yes please. This resulted in us having to pack our bags so they could move them during the day.
Off we went to pick up our Roma passes that we had preordered and first stop was the Colosseum. Just two stops on a busy train... but we only made it to the first stop as I realised Mr Cs wallet was on the floor and when he picked it up all our holiday money had gone..€400. His cards were still in his wallet so that was good. We spent 2hours waiting to report it at the police station (room), we are hoping that we may be able to claim back from our insurance. But what a start to our break.
Anyway, we got to the Colosseum about 1ish and walked all around that and Palatine Hill. We were going to go on to somewhere else but we were a bit pooped. We came back to our new room, it’s like walking into your own private building and the room is bigger too. Had showers and went out for a lovely Italian meal. Our waiter spoke perfect English and it turned out he was born in Balham, south London (same as Mr C) but moved back to Italy in 1980.
Hope Skeena doesn’t mind me keeping the blue in to show how lovely the weather was today.
