A Fine Romance?
Not much of it round here. TM has taken the Moneypit Landrover to have something done to the brakes, and I'm clearing out the dining room prior to redecorating. I came across this and thought I'd blip it today.
It was on the table in a Vietnamese restaurant in Bangkok, where we had a memorable Valentine's dinner twelve years ago.
We were in a beautiful old house, the food was amazing, the staff elegant and discreet. Every thing was so tranquil and serene.
A couple sat down at the next table. Food was ordered - she sent it back. Another dozen dishes arrived. She ignored it. She opened her presents one by one and cast them to one side. Then she stood up and swept out, leaving her unfortunate companion to settle the bill and leave with as much composure as he could muster.
It was too much for our waitress. She suddenly found she could speak English after all - 'They break up! They break up!!'
Another memorable thing about that evening was crossing the umpteen lanes of traffic to get to this place. I insistied on a taxi door to door on the way back, and the driver fell asleep at the wheel every time the traffic backed up.
I think we're having a quiet night in tonight, that will suit me fine!
