Cold Air Sprint

Contested over four laps of the lower moorland field, the Cold Air Sprint (and it was cold!) is not just a battle of power and speed but also of wit, dexterity and tactics.

Early on in the contest you can expect to see air sprinters watching each other carefully, encircling each other in a game of cat and mouse, each trying to out-position their rival in order to launch a surprise flight for the finishing line of pine trees.

The race often comes down to the last 50m but you may see some air sprinters choosing to attack tail feathers or plummeting out of the sky in avoidance.  With no specific rules or referees, the judges overlook the majority of direct strikes and variations in the rules.

In this instance, Team Buzzard called in the help of his teammate who was in the midst of his medal-winning Air Jump (see additional footage from the AOG in extras.)
