Organically grown up
8,364 days after this photo was taken, I learnt this young lady, her husband Robert and their three young children have been awarded a 3rd prize in a German nationwide competition for Young Organic Farm in 2017/8. Farmers who have changed from conventional to organic in the last year. (In the link Dani & Robert with baby boy sitting).
Awarded by the large German Conservation Society -NABU- and sponsored by an organisation promoting organic products from food to cosmetics and organic hotels - Alnatura - the motto is "Together, making up good ground", a play on words not easy to translate into English.
I know the last couple of years have been hard for them as they made the change, building more animal-friendly barns, doing without artificial pesticides and fertilizers and having to live off the lower prices they got until their farm was officially certified. (In the link Dani very pregnant but still working as they got towards their Organic licence)
Well done the whole family and that includes I am sure all the parents. I can certainly vouch for Dani's Mum Heidi and Dad Sepp, who were our next door neighbours in 1995-2002. Back then they started questioning everything they did in their mixed dairy, arable and forestry business. Day for day and month for month, they were coming up with ideas that could make a difference to bettering the environment and the products they produced and for the most part, looked at very sceptically by their farming neighbours. They have both been very active in helping Dani & Robert and are very proud parents and grandparents.
The photo is of Dani, along with her father Sepp helping us to get our horse stables built before we moved in officially on 1st April 1995. It was only with the families help that we could even consider buying the house and yard. They supplied machinery, pastures, grain, hay, manpower, moral support, and even electricity! They will know why the "!". Without their support, our dream would have failed.
The photo is a still from a video so not the best quality.
