Edinburgh Castle

We had to be up and out early today, to catch the train to Edinburgh for a holiday treat – the dentist!  All was good at the dentist (unlike TT’s dental saga which continues!).  Next stop was the optician for me.  After a very thorough eye check I picked new frames and parted with the cash.  I needed to recover after that so we headed for lunch.  BB was torn between the kids menu and the main menu.  He eventually went for the kids menu, and helped me eat my pizza.

We walked along the water of Leith to our next stop – the running shop as I need new running shoes.  After trying on many pairs, I eventually settled on a pair and then we were on our way again.  BB wanted to visit the Harry Potter shop.  I think it is fair to say we were both underwhelmed, so we then headed to the museum.  It was packed, but we went to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, which was less packed.  There were some amazing images.

We had to watch out time, as BB had to be home and out again for football training.  It was a freezing cold night and I wasn’t sure how he would manage after being ill, but he seemed to enjoy it, even though he coughed all the way home and then for a while more.  I went for a  brisk walk in the dark with my friend while the boys were training and got home just in time for my ER fix.

Here is a view of Edinburgh Castle from Kings Stables Road.  The extra is the Inchkeith lighthouse lens in the National Museum of Scotland.
