Ivy berries
Some of the bunches of berries on this ivy haven't yet been taken by the birds, though most have been at least partially stripped of fruit. This one was still complete, and perhaps the berries are not quite ripe yet, although blackbirds seem willing to eat anything that looks even slightly ripened. The individual berries look like little pumpkins, with a tiny end of stalk sticking up out of each one. If the colder weather persists, as the forecast seems to think likely, no doubt they'll get eaten as soon as the birds decide they can't wait any longer.
A lovely day today with lots of sunshine. Sometime this weekend I've got to get on with sowing sweet peas, though they can probably wait given the low temperatures.
