How many firemen does it take....

...to get a rook off a roof?

Unfortunately a rook became entangled in the netting on our roof (which was put there to prevent seagulls nesting. We were assured birds couldn't get trapped in it!) Anyway, we phoned the RSPCA and a very nice lady came along and checked the situation, then phoned the fire brigade. So we had a fire engine with four firemen arrive. By this time it was dark, so they had to use floodlights. They cut the netting away with the rook and the lady managed to remove it once the rook had been lowered in a bag. I was very sorry the bird had become entangled, but it was all rather exciting.....The lady thought that it had oil in its feathers so may have been having trouble flying and chose to land in the wrong place. She will get the necessary treatment for it and hopes that its wings are okay.

We will now make arrangements to get the netting removed.
