3 Amigos World Tour - visit Kelso
The boys are "down under" on visit 3 of the tour. Today WWombat and CCN drove out to my place in Bathurst ( 100k west). Bathurst is the oldest Australian city, gazetted in 1815. It prospered due to gold fever and is now a small city with agriculture, education and other industries.
The main picture was taken at the Holy Trinity Church in Kelso which is a suburb on the eastern banks of the mighty Macquarie River. If you walk across you get wet up to the knees....but it is pretty "mighty" as it keeps on flowing all the way to South Australia thousands of miles away. Kelso was settled in 1816, previously inhabited by Aboriginal people from the Wiradjuri Nation. This is the oldest inland church in Australia ( 1835). We were thrilled to find a sign to take with the Amigos.
When the visitors arrived we viewed the Wedding photos ( which were fabulous) prior to lunch at Bake, Table and Tea. Wombat and CCN are going to return as they loved it.
What a fun day. After lunch we toured Mt Panorama our famous race track. Here are Kelso, Rowan and Trigger on the starting grid ready for the 6.213km journey. We tried to beat the record of 2 minutes 1second but came in about 20 minutes late after stopping to admire the view and escape the police who sit at the bottom of the main straight to catch anyone going too fast. CCN couldn't believe the gradient and difficulty of the track, it's a killer. In fact 16 have died here whilst racing.
Other shots include Wombat meeting my dog Tom who was very interested in the visitors, and one of me so you know I was actually there...
Thanks to Peggy for sharing your beautiful Amigos, they are exquisite and we loved them. Next stop Jen in Newcastle.
All in all a great day...
