50 Tibetan girls in my class

Such a privilege to have taught, in 2003, these 50 motivated girls aged 9 - 21. They lived in a boarding house in a new purpose built school run by a charity called Rokpa. (www.rokpa.org/uk) Education probably saved their lives as these girls were taken off the streets or given to the school by families that could not afford to keep them! Leaving them after 5 months was such an emotional wrench, especially as were not allowed to keep in direct contact with them. I still support the school financially and it now has 150 girls.
