How Many Repairpeople Does it Take To Fix A Dryer?

The Vulture Circuit in the Alternative Olympic Games is an intense event over a long and demanding course. Careful preparation is required. We're too far away to see which participant this is, but he is very intent on warming up. Much stamina is required in this tough course  and it looks like he is probably combining some meditation and visualization along with wing warmup. It looks like perfect weather conditions with clear skies and no wind. It should be an exciting day in the skies over Wildwood.

It may have been exciting for Merlin the turkey vulture, but from my point of view, the rest of the day doesn't merit much discussion.

Having left a freezing house yesterday morning, we were pleasantly surprised and mystified that the heat had come on in our absence and the house was warmer than usual hotter than hell. It was too late to call off the repairman so we decided to see what he had to say.

He arrived at 8am and informed us that what we had was an 'intermittent issue'...no kidding. I could have  figured that out. A ladder was produced, warnings about rat traps in the attic were given, and, in due course, numerous choices were presented ranging from a new igniter to a new furnace. OilMan elected to do nothing until it happened again. I figure that will probably be next Tuesday morning when the temperature is expected to drop below freezing overnight.

The dryer repair guy showed up next. He was carrying a box which presumably contained the circuit board it had taken them three weeks to obtain. When asked why we needed a new circuit board when they dryer was only three years old, he responded with another question. Had we had had a power outage recently? He nodded his head when we said that it had been out for almost a week in October. Oh yes, that could certainly cause 'intermittent issues'. That phrase again. I'm beginning to realize that it is code for 'we don't know what the hell is wrong with it but this pretty much covers the bases.'

He pulled out the dryer, revealing three years' worth of spider webs, dust bunnies and a couple of socks, opened his cardboard box and made a phone call. The box had the right number on it but the circuit board within was the wrong one...He scurried out of range before violence was committed, leaving the dismantled laundry room to us, and the  message that Christy would call us to tell us how long it would take to get the right box with the right circuit breaker. OilMan was certain she would call later in the day. I was equally certain she wouldn't.

Anybody care to guess which of us was right?
