Al Shaheed Park
A lovely day out with friends today - double bonus - no exams work so a free Saturday and a friend was in town for a couple of days. We had lunch out on the coast, then went to the park to see the 'snow' park. There was a small ice skating rink for the kids, but not much ice as it was 25C, and the kids either rode mini reindeer or seals, or skated. A very short downhill ice slide was their other option. There were a couple of machines blowing stuff - we think wet foam.... anyway, fun to see. And all locals in local attire.
We enjoyed a long walk around the park, then sat drinking coffee until other friends joined us. It meant we could see the park at night, with lots of lovely lighting on the plantings. Dinner was at Mais al Ghanem - very tasty Lebanese cooked fresh, quickly as we were starving at 9.30pm.
And I can enjoy day two of my weekend tomorrow, although not really sure what I'll do in K-town....
The view is from the park with one of the art installations in the foreground - much more effective at night, and the city in the background - with the colour of the flag in advance of the upcoming celebrations.
