Hunter – Retired
This is the gate guardian where I work. It's a Hawker Hunter from the 1950s, one which did hardly any service. It was a testbed, it appears, before being retired after only a few years.
Which is a shame as I flew Hunters, both single- and two-seat during my training, while learning to use bombs and guns on attack aircraft. It was a lovely machine to fly and I'd dearly love to fly one again; but it won't happen . . .
The whole aircraft appears in the extra photo.
