Snowy sheets
The snowdrops in Old Sulehay Forest are always at least a couple of weeks behind our garden ones, and this morning they were still not fully open. But the overall effect was still stunning.
One of the better additions to the British flora, this species was known in cultivation by 1597 but was not recorded in the wild until 1778. At one time it was thought to be native, but it is now considered to be an introduction, though it is well naturalised across the British Isles.
