Alvvays
Tonight we went to see the completely wonderful Canadian indie band Alvvays at the Academy in Manchester. The five-piece are led by the supremely talented Molly Rankin who sings and plays guitar and is a real cool presence on stage.
They have recorded two albums so far and if there is any justice they will soon be massive. As you can tell I am a big fan and the concert was brilliant.
For those of you who have never heard of them (most of you I imagine) their most famous song is Marry Me Archie which has got to be one of the catchiest songs of recent years. Those of you who aren't so keen on jangly guitar bands might like this version by Choir! Choir! Choir!. I promise you that this joyous video will make you smile and brighten up your day.
Marry Me Archie came from the self-titled first album. This track, In Undertow from the second album Anti-Socialites is one of my favourites and sounded fantastic live.
The photo quality isn't brilliant but as you can see we had a good vantage point
