Taking a Step Back
We went for a walk in Wendover Woods today to look for some autumn colours. The trees are just turning and there are some great colour combinations out there. Shame it wasn't a sunny day, but still great fun.
It was also a great opportunity to try out our latest photographic device: the new Canon "Holistic Live Preview". It's an extra viewing screen which allows you to see what a shot looks like from further back, allowing the "context" to be considered. "Context" is defined here as "the lighting conditions, colours and shades surrounding the actual frame being taken". The idea is that "Holistic Live Preview (TM) extends the principles behind evaluative metering to the next level, taking the wider context of the subject and its surroundings into consideration. In addition the photographer can use the Holistic Live Preview (TM) to consider whether the shot is framed correctly, as its view extends beyond the boundaries of the traditional Liveview screen".
A button on the device allows the current Holistic Preview to be recorded so you can use it for reference later when processing the image. Some more practice required, but it gives some interesting results: our blip is the Holistic Live Preview (as operated by Annie), and the Folio has the picture Chris was framing at the time.
Have a great week folks. :)
