Popped into the cathedral today in prep for 30 children visiting next week, 300 the week after. This Icon of Mary is one of a set of four icons painted by Orthodox Icon painters, who in true medieval style wished to remain anonymous, as this was their offering to God. The four icons are of Mary, Jesus, St Peter and St Cedd, who brought the Christian faith to Essex in 654AD.
