Crocus pallasii

Decapitated by slugs :(

Crocus pallasii, a species with a wide geographical distribution. This form is from Turkey but it grows in Bulgaria, Greece, Israel and the Crimea too. With such a wide distribution it is no surprise that it is quite variable, narrow petals/wide petals, plain coloured/intensely veined. Mostly it grows in places with a Mediterranean climate, warm and dry in summer, so it is little tried in UK gardens although some people report it grows well.

Time to get some slug pellets to hide between the pots where only the slugs and snails can find them.
