Poppies for Remembrance
These poppies are a token of remembrance for Gillipaw who died suddenly on Tuesday. It was she who gave them to me many years ago to use as a blip for Remembrance Day that year.
Gillipaw and I became members of the Blipfoto community within months of each other in 2009. Her entries were recommended to me by son #2, a blipper himself in those days. She became both a virtual and an actual friend and we met up on numerous occasions for a blether about cameras, families and holidays.
She was a person with a deep sense of faith, which acted as a rock through the recent death of her parents and family illness. She was interested in everything, but particularly in photography, music and art, subjects which often featured in her blips.
Gillian was one of the good people in life, thoughtful, sensitive and kind, with a great love for her family and extended family. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her, and she leaves behind a big hole in the Blipfoto community.
It’s so hard to come to terms with the sudden death of someone long before their ‘three score years and ten’. My thoughts at this time are with her husband and sons.
