Cardiff Castle At Night
About 7.15pm this evening I joined a group to do the Cardiff Castle tour by night. It was a walk around the medieval hall (in blipfoto) and rooms whilst being given the history and tales of the castle.
It's got quite a chequered history, built on the remains of a Roman fort of which quite a lot of the roman wall can still be seen even from the street outside the castle. The oldest part of the medieval hall is over 500 years old.
I've been going to the castle for well over 50 years but have never been inside at night before so it was good to see it differently and much quieter than the day!
The extra shows the 11th Century motte, with later12th century stone keep which was formerly a prison; Robert of Normandy was imprisoned in the keep until his death in 1134.
