Waiting for their treats in ascending order
Another interesting day. We spent the morning exploring the area in the north of the city of Carlsbad. The city has published several trails in the surrounding area. It’s not a city as we would know it but more of a “Borough” covering an area along the coast to the east which is largely suburbanised with areas of natural vegetation through which the trails wind.
Today’s trail began at the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Nature Discovery Centre where we looked at information and exhibits about this interesting lagoon. The trail climbed to heights above Feraday Avenue through a Veterans Memorial Park giving fine views over to the lagoon and Pacific beyond.
The trail descends to the Crossings Golf Club, crossing Macario Creek, climbing up to the Grand Pacific Resort complex. We realised that the Sheraton Hotel here was where we spent the day after Chris and De’Shaun’ s wedding on 1st September 2014 and that the valley we walked along was the one we could see from the poolside of the hotel.
In the afternoon we went over to Chris and De’Shaun ‘s to spend more time with them and Landon and not forgetting the three dogs. Today’s shot was taken after they’d all been for a walk and were waiting for their customary treat. Landon was in good form, great smiles as well as little grizzly periods.
The day was rounded off with a Mexican takeaway; we had Quesadillas which were of an industrial size, so much so that we could only manage about half of the portion!
Back at the Airbnb we watched a bit of TV which we’d downloaded onto iPlayer before we left the UK but promptly fell asleep!
