Starry Night.
We drove down to a tiny settlement, with a name that is both unpronounceable and unspellable, near Gobowen in Shropshire for Herself to do the “Textures” workshop. The idea is that she recreates a scene that includes mosses, lichens and suchlike using nothing but her innate skills (which she has yet to learn), a cotton fabric, coloured yarns and a sewing machine. When she’s not doing that, she will be catching up on her UFOs (Un-Finished Objects (patchworks)) and I will be catching up on my photography skills.
The evening was cold and clear, the cottage we are renting has a veranda, from which I Blipped, overlooking our landlord’s residence and to the North West is some urban conurbation that illuminates the night sky. The Facebook camera club project for February is night photography and, although I had long term hankering to try starscapes finding the right place and conditions has always been a problem. Sadly, it doesn’t look as though these conditions are going to recur while we are here. I think it should be possible to make a better fist of this image than I have managed - but that is a project for the summer and next year’s run of club competitions.
