In the Pink

For the second day of my sister's visit we went to the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust Centre at Slimbridge in Gloucestershire. We set out in bright sunshine but soon ran into fog which got worse the further down the M5 we went.

By the time we got to Slimbridge it was very murky and cold. It did gradually brighten during the day, but the sun never really broke through, which was a shame because it meant the light conditions were not ideal for photography.

We had hoped to see kingfishers but sadly they have failed to breed there this year, and none were to be seen while we waited at the Kingfisher Hide. I did take a lot of photos of the birds at the centre though and have found it very hard to choose just one of them for a blip. I have opted for this shot of a greater flamingo.
