Scarecrows or sculptures?

Spotted in a vineyard just outside the little village of Le Petit Pressigny, France, which has a great attraction - one of the best restaurants in France, La Promenade, and an excellent chambres d'hotes across the road, Au Fil de l'Aigronne.

Are they elaborate scarecrows or inventive sculptures?
