What I thought had been my dad losing his bank card on Tuesday, has now transpired to be stolen, along with several hundred pounds from his bank account!!

So I've been chasing this up today, going to his bank and cancelling all cards for him, and just keeping mine. Ringing the police and the fraud office too.

And the last thing was going and telling dad about it. That was the worst thing as he was quite distressed by it. Not only the money going, but why he couldn't manage his own affairs anymore and not remembering what had happened to his card.

I went to a branch of dad's bank in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The town is surrounded by a ring road which mean as a pedestrian you need to access it via a series of subways. Usually not the most pleasant of places but this one was celebrating one of the town's famous inhabitants - Philip Astley.

He is considered to be the creator of the modern circus. This year is the 250th anniversary of the modern circus.
