Facade, Vurgin Oil Co, Helsinki

The Virgin Oil Company doesn't in fact sell oil but they serve great food which is why we were there at lunchtime today. We had gone to the capital to take in an exhibition pf photography by a friend of ours, Taneli Eskola.
The Art Deco details on many of Helsinki's buildings never cease to amaze me. Indeed entire buildings are built in Deco style. A delight to the eyes when one sees so much featureless glass and steel nowadays. Seems to me that it's just as easy to make a building beautiful as it is to make it either plain or even downright ugly.
