Every packer that rides into Sunrise with a train of pack mules has their own horse that they ride every day. This horse is called Ray-Ray and belongs to Sean the packer. Ray-Ray is a joy of a horse, very sweet, friendly and loyal, perhaps more dog than horse in some respects. Usually packers will tie up their horses while they unload the mules, yet after the first few weeks of the season Sean became comfortable with the idea of allowing Ray-Ray to wander about unsupervised. Consequently, when Sean comes into camp, we are prone to finding Ray-Ray hanging around the back dock, pulling up stray patches of grass and approaching passersby in hopes of handouts.
