Mixed Emotions
Today met up briefly with friends I’ve not physically seen for several years; out for dinner with other friends; and renewed friendships and acquaintances in the sad environment of a funeral in the East Neuk of Fife at Cellardykes.
This was a service for Ian Hutton who passed away aged 93. Ian had been a great pal of my late father’s and indeed had been my parents’ best man. He was a lovely gentle man and as children our families grew up together. Indeed our own children know the next generation as well.
So a sad day, with a lovely service and many memories – where the stained glass reflections form the blip. The journey back was enlivened by listening to the rugby which I continued to do once home driving around to catch up on the various Saturday chores. The euphoria of the winning moments in f the Calcutta Cup was dashed by news that one of my sister in laws had died suddenly. She had been in poor health for a few years but all the signs were of excellent remission so this news came as a devastating shock.
