The Polar Vortex phenomenon that 's racing across Europe and Great Britain is, perversely, a symptom of global warming according to some experts. What is clear is that the Polar Vortex has weakened and split, allowing northern Europe to experience its icy powers instead of keeping arctic temperatures confined to the north pole.

With temperatures not expected to rise above -1C and dropping in some areas to -15C with significant snow and blizzards for the next 4-5 days, there's not a lot of 'warmth' to be found in Britain.
