Itinerary planning
Working on the itinerary for an April Blipmeet in Beaufort for myself and two other blipper friends, Joyce and Diane..who traveled with me to Arizona last year.
Even though it is three hours from my home there are so many things to see and do there that I have not ever taken the time to do. So this trip will be a combination of history, birding, beach, lighthouses, marshes, boat ride and walking, walking and more walking. We will visit Daufauskie Island, near Hilton Head for a day long look at the Gullah traditions, art and winery(and the food!). A ferry ride takes us there and then we have a golf cart for getting around!! No cars on this island! Visiting Port Royal for the Cypress Wetlands boardwalk and historical homes, Hunting Island State Park, where we can climb up to the top of the lighthouse and enjoy a walk on the beach..maybe the sunrise if we get up early enough! And in downtown Beaufort within walking distance of where we are staying is the waterfront park where I know the sunset is spectacular..that I have seen. We will possibly see the sunset from a boat cruise along the river one night! We will be able to walk to most of the spots for shopping and dining. Of course, there are some other restaurants that we will be driving to sample the low country cuisine!
With all my maps and books on the table, it works out well for mono Monday!
If any blippers want to join us for a Blipmeet in South Carolina you are most certainly welcome. We are going in about 7 weeks, April 8-14. April in South Carolina is one of our months are far as great weather for being outdoors!
