The girls of slender means

This evening the members of Dangerous Book Group (yes, that's our name) met at Melissa's house to discuss The girls of slender means. My blip shows the 'black market' sherry that I acquired for the evening, in fitting with the wartime setting of the main story.

We all 'quite' enjoyed the book, but were grateful that it was a short text. While reading it none of us recognised that the portrayal of one of the characters included associations with Jesus Christ. It was only because Emma found this information online that we were able to make the connections.

As usual, we discussed much more than the book, covering topics such as fraud, travel insurance, the selection of holiday cottages, the recording of lectures, ultracrepudarian people, sackable offences, the cooking of barley, John Bratby, collecting, the Internet of (warm) Things, art, and our trip to the Prado in Madrid planned for next November.

Our next book is Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine by Gail Honeyman, to be discussed on Monday 26th March.

Exercise today: 3 mile run; walking (20,550 steps)
