A Love Affair: Part One
It never happens right away, especially when she stays wrapped up and reluctant to show much of herself. I have learned respect for such initial shyness. She wants to play a game on our first date, not prepared to give up her secrets right away. There is a need to flirt, to try to establish trust and a rapport. She snubbed me first thing, by raining on my aspirations, letting me know that she was going to be no pushover. But it was important to be persistent and let her know that I'm no pushover either. I was duly rewarded later in the day. She let her guard down and allowed me to sneak a kiss.
She's quite the little tease this one. We may become lovers over time but I have a feeling it's going to require some considerable patience and a lot of hard work to form a deeper relationship. She just may be a little too young for me. A little too capricious. And demanding. It feels sad to admit that I'm not the man I once was. There was a time when she wouldn't have been able to resist me. Nor me her.
