Cooperation
A lot of the work I do here has to do with using simple everyday objects in different ways. I have to be somewhat creative and have lots of fun shopping and experimenting with what I have bought and generally create great amusement as staff (and pupils) come to see what 'Sally Aunty' has done this time!
Children don't really work together in this class, but here, these girls are having fun helping each other.
Both have difficulty coordinating their hand movements, so I bought 20 sparkly plastic bangles and used a wooden clave I had bought previously. One held the clave while the other put the bangles onto it, then they swapped. It was lovely when they spontaneously applauded each other as they finished.
They have next to no English, so there is always lots of laughter as I try to explain what I want them to do! Words such as 'super' and 'very good', they do know though and use with big smiles!
The extras are of some of the senior boys who wanted their picture taken. Those who used to follow my blog may recognise Mariappam and Tamil Selvan in the second picture, who I have known for the past 10 years and who greet me each year with huge smiles and hugs. It makes it all worth while.
