Mitten Crab, or Hairy Crab, found on Kew Road

This is a Mitten Crab, and unbeknown to me, they are a big pest. Apparently they are ruining the natural banks of the River Thames by digging holes. This little beastie was found near Kew Gardens, and I think it was on it's way to the River to spawn, only it got lost and was actually travelling in the opposite direction! In the end I took the crab to the Sackler Pond in Kew Gardens which is where it probably came from originally. I didn't want to end up with a huge fine, which is what you get if you put these things into the River Thames!
