Goodbye

This is a photo from last weekend. From what I didn't realise at the time was going to be our last family walk with Alfie.

Today he didn't eat anything. He was listless. We couldn't bear to see him suffer. He was far too special for that. We let him go to sleep forever while we stroked his silky ears and kissed him goodbye.

Alfie came to us two weeks after we lost our beautiful baby. He was my reason to get up in the morning and he kept me going through my darkest days. He came to us frightened and abused and we put each other back together again.

Alfie my beautiful big bear dog. I'm going to miss looking into those gorgeous brown eyes. I love you and I miss you more than I can say. Run free sweetheart xxx
