Frozen Canal

We woke this morning to more chaos as the builder arrived to put up the new mantel piece as I was trying to get KK to school and fix the Rayburn which had decided it was too cold to work during the night so turned itself off!

We tracked the Rayburn problem to frozen oil as it comes from the tank into the house so poured boiling water on it before relighting. A slow start but it got going again. Iain the joiner brought in the mantel he had made us from the piece of the floor joist from the old distillery. Luckily I liked it and it's now fitted. We think it is yellow pine brought over from America more than a century ago as ballast before being used to build the local distillery.
