The ducks have spent much of the day sitting on the ice in their water troughs. I couldn't break it with a metal spade so had to carry watering cans of hot water from the house so that the chicks and ducks could have water to drink.

The novelty of having snow is wearing off. It is so bitterly cold, and today I stayed at home keeping away from the ungritted lanes and closed motorways.

Being the first day of meteorological spring (LOL) I spent much of the day spring cleaning the house by washing down all the woodwork and paintwork. Funnily enough I have not heard any weather forecasters mentioning the Spring word.
