It's a birds' life!
I started the day by going back to yesterday's glowworms in daylight: the first extra shows the worm itself near the top left, along with several of its strings of insect-catching goo.
Then we drove to Arthur's Pass Village and went walking from there (in spite of the monsoon conditions!). We were really lucky to capture the main blip shot of 3 Keas doing their aerobatics at the top of a tree; the gorgeous undersides of their wings show up well. (Look carefully at the photo and you can see the rain!)
Later we met a very friendly New Zealand Robin who posed for the camera for ages; I took far too many photos and had a hard time choosing one but my Editor likes best the one I've loaded as the second extra.
We're now back in Christchurch from where we have to catch a flight home on Sunday evening (ie Sunday morning in the UK); we're hoping that Newcastle airport will be free of snow for us to land there late on Monday morning! So tomorrow is Christchurch sightseeing day.
