iced in

the sea is sluggish with cold and seems to break in slow motion over the rocks. 

there's an ice rink outside our front door - the Radish is sliding about like a cartoon character.

minor drama:  last night the boiler conked out, (discovered when we had a cold bath and had to boil kettles to do the washing up) but after asking for help on the Facebook we were able to sort it out by following the advice given. just as well, because no one can get up the drive.  heating will now remain on all day, but i'm still wearing 4 layers, a coat & fingerless gloves.
