"Scanning Electron Microscope"

One of the buildings I take care of has a SEM and as I was doing some air balancing in the room to adjust the temperature I asked if I could bring in a piece of gold that I had panned out of the South Fork River and check it out. Mike, who runs the program was pretty excited about it and from there we were just two kids playing with a half million dollar microscope and getting some amazing pictures. The SEM can also detect elements and peaks of what the material is made up of and I found that the flake I brought in is 85% gold, some silver and other materials. Looks like I'll still need to keep my day job for now. :)
